Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A major milestone for outdoor education in Northwest Iowa as a crowd gathered in Spencer today to officially cut the ribbon on the Oneota Nature Learning Center. Spencer Mayor Donavan Wuncheal, and County Supervisors Allen Batschelet and Randy Swanson were there today.

The new center is built to handle heavy traffic from area school districts. Clay County Conservation Director Will Horsley says the layout is intentionally designed for large groups.

The new building is just part of the expansion, as the county also brings on fresh staff. Newly hired naturalist Trinity Atkins says she is ready to hit the ground running, no matter the season.

You can find more information or register for upcoming programs online at Mycountyparks.com or visit the facility at 420 10th Avenue, Spencer.
