Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowanow.com) — Clay County residents will have the chance to vote on a new EMS levy this November. The county’s Board of Supervisors officially approved the resolution to put the funding measure on the ballot for November 4, 2025. This decision followed a presentation from Beth Ter Horst, the county’s EMS Consultant. The hope is to use the funds to update equipment, get more volunteers, and potentially hire some paid staff.
Ter Horst also reported the EMS advisory council continues to gather information from other counties and other data and is meeting again next week to put all their ideas on the table and will develop a framework to present to voters before the measure is up for the vote.
She says the Advisory Council wants to make sure this serves the entire county adequately. She says it’s about being good stewards of taxpayer money while ensuring everyone has access to the best emergency care.
