Crew Strikes Gas Line in Okoboji

Okoboji, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A construction crew struck a gas line in Okoboji about 10 yesterday morning. The Arnolds Park / Okoboji Fire and Rescue team was dispatched for about 3 hours. Black Hills Energy bypassed the main. The street was already closed for construction. Workers were moved away from the leak but it did NOT require an evacuation of any homeowners.

The Spirit Lake fire department was called out about 10:30 to Lincoln Avenue and 28th Street. There had been a controlled burn on Wednesday. The next morning some trees near the bike trail were smoldering. That situation was brought under control in less than 60 minutes.
