Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — For twenty-six of KICD’s storied eighty-five years on the air the General Manager was Dave Putnam. He retired at the end of 2025, but was inducted this week into the Iowa Broadcast Association’s Hall of Fame. Ironically – he says he never considered a career in radio.

Putnam says the “secret sauce” at Spencer Media Group is its commitment to service.

Putnam is the third KICD Manager to be inducted into the IBA Hall of Fame: One of the very first inductees was founder Ben Sanders in 1973, and then Bill Sanders in 1990.
