Des Moines, IA — December 2025 was the 65th coldest on record in the state, according to State Climatologist Justin Glisan. He noted that the month featured significant temperature swings.

It was the 60th driest December on record. What was most notable were the snowfall totals across the state.

Glisan shared key takeaways from the Spencer co-op station data here in town.

It was a very active month, with a storm system occurring nearly once a week.

Patrick Hazelett will reconnect with Justin Glisan in the coming week to review the entirety of 2025, so stay tuned.
