Spirit Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Northwest Iowa is buzzing about the potential impact to the community if officials allow the building of large-scale Data Centers. Concerned citizens of Dickinson County shared their views with the Board of Supervisors Tuesday May 12th at their regular meeting.

Supervisors took a few moments to discuss before voting on the resolution.

The board proceeded with a formal vote on the resolution to approve a six-month moratorium on zoning permits for data centers, bitcoin mining, solar and battery installations.

The moratorium is effective immediately for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension based on the progress of the Planning and Zoning Board.
