Spencer Teen Cited After Rural Clay County Crash
SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A crash in rural Clay County led to citations for a Spencer teen.
On October 18 around 10:06 a.m., the Clay County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to the 3200 mile of 250th Avenue, where they found a severely damaged 2013 Chevy Malibu.
Authorities say the driver, a 16-year-old male, was traveling northbound when he became distracted and veered off the road. He reentered, crossed the center line, and overcorrected—sliding into the east ditch.
Before coming to a stop, the vehicle struck a culvert, utility pole, and fence. No injuries were reported, but damage to the Chevy Malibu is estimated at $15,000.
The juvenile was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
The vehicle is reportedly registered to Samuel Maki.
