Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Several airports in the corridor have been granted funds through the Iowa Department of Transportation Aviation program.

The Estherville Airport will receive 399 thousand dollars toward construction of a 570-thousand-dollar parallel taxiway. Spencer Airport has a 207-thousand-dollar project to construct new hangar approaches and will get 166 thousand dollars in D.O.T. funds.

The Spirit Lake Airport will get 49 thousand dollars toward a 61 thousand dollar project to eliminate some obstructions; Sibley will get 48 thousand dollars toward a 60 thousand dollar runway repair project, Milford Airport will receive 45 thousand dollars toward a 56 thousand dollar project to remove and trim trees; and Sheldon will get 17 thousand dollars to help develop a zoning ordinance expected to cost about 20 grand.

In total commissioners voted last Tuesday to grant 6.7 million dollars in grants to 25 locations around the state.
