EMMET COUNTY, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Campgrounds in Emmet County are getting ready to open as officials prepare for a busy summer season.

In an interview with KICD, Conservation Director Matt Reineke says staff are targeting a late-March opening date.

Ahead of opening day, Reineke says crews must complete seasonal setup work to ensure public safety.

In addition to campground preparation, the Nature Center at Wolden Park is receiving long-needed improvements this year.

Emmet County Conservation operates three campgrounds across the county: Wolden Park, Tuttle Lake, and Iowa Lake.

The department is also finalizing summer programs for youth, including nature camps and a kid’s fishing clinic.
