Emmetsburg Man Arrested in Ongoing Burglary Investigation

EMMETSBURG, IA (Northwestiowanow) — An Emmetsburg man is facing multiple charges after deputies executed two search warrants tied to a stolen property investigation.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies searched a residence at 3484 440th Avenue on Thursday, January 29, as part of an ongoing investigation into stolen items. A second warrant was obtained at the same time for suspected illegal narcotics.

Following the search, deputies arrested 41-year-old Casey Ryan Peterson of Emmetsburg. Peterson is charged with Possession of Stolen Property, a Class D Felony; First Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance — Methamphetamine, a Serious Misdemeanor; Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, also a Serious Misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, which is a Simple Misdemeanor.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it received assistance from the Union County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota and Palo Alto County Emergency Management during the operation.
