ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The long-awaited Estherville Aquatic Center is set to reopen Wednesday following extensive repairs.

The facility was originally scheduled to open June 1st, but remained closed after defects in the pool’s piping system were discovered, requiring professional repair work.

City Administrator Penny Clayton says crews have now completed those repairs and addressed the issues identified during the assessment.

Clayton says the final cost of the project is still being determined, noting the scope of work expanded after repairs got underway.

Despite the delay, the Estherville Aquatic Center will reopen Wednesday, July 1st at 1:00 p.m. To make up for lost time, the city is offering season passes at 50 percent off for both individuals and families.

Officials say anyone who previously purchased a pass will be contacted by staff to arrange a partial refund.
