Estherville, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A Battery-charging station is being blamed for a house fire in Estherville Monday afternoon. Luckily there were no injuries and fire damage was contained to the porch.

The Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 Block of 14th Avenue North shortly before 3pm. The resident was spraying the fire with a garden hose, and an Emmet County Deputy and the first fire officer to arrive used extinguishers to keep the blaze in check until the first truck arrived to completely douse the flames.

Estherville Police and Ambulance and Estherville Electric also assisted on scene. The fire department was there for around an hour. Chief Travis Sheridan says there is smoke damage throughout the structure.
