Storm Lake, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — Hollywood is lining up to pay tribute to Academy-award winner Gene Hackman. The city of Storm Lake can boast that Hackman was a resident of the community briefly in the 1940s.

Although he was a native Californian his parents moved frequently, living in Illinois until his parents divorced and his mother brought Hackman and his brother to Iowa for a year.

According to Wikipedia, Hackman spent his sophomore year in High School in Storm Lake before lying about his age to get into World War 2.
