Haunted House is Discontinued

Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A long-standing Halloween tradition in Spencer is coming to an end.

The Spencer Jaycees have announced the difficult decision to discontinue their local haunted house. In a statement, the group said it has been their “absolute joy” to bring thrills and chills to the community over the years.

The Jaycees expressed deep gratitude for all of their past and present members, volunteers, sponsors, and especially the guests who made each season so special.

While the decision was not made lightly, the organization says it feels it is the right time to close this chapter.

However, the haunt may not be gone for good. The Jaycees are putting out a call to any other local group that might be interested in taking on the project. Any organization interested in continuing the Halloween tradition should contact the Spencer Jaycees for more information before October 15th.
