POCAHONTAS, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Final preparations are underway in Pocahontas for the 2026 Heritage Days celebration this weekend.

A full weekend of activities is planned for Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th.

Pocahontas Chamber Executive Director Parker Aden says the annual event will feature a mix of live entertainment, community traditions, and family-friendly activities.

The main highlight Friday night will be live music in downtown Pocahontas.

The band will perform from 8 to 11 p.m., with a beer garden available while still maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere.

Saturday’s schedule features a wide range of events beginning in the morning, including one of the weekend’s biggest draws — the parade, starting at 11:00 a.m.

Unique this year is the county kaleidoscope tour.

The bus tour is limited in capacity, with pre-registration available through the Chamber’s website.

Additional weekend activities include an escape room, pickleball and bags tournaments, a new food-eating contest, and trivia night. Fireworks will cap off the celebration Saturday evening at 10 p.m.

More information, including a full schedule and registration details, can be found on the Pocahontas Chamber website at pokychamber.com.
