Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Road construction will impact both U.S. Highway 71 and Iowa Highway 7 in Storm Lake starting next week.

The Iowa DOT and CN Railroad are teaming up for a joint project to improve the road surface and safety. The work starts Monday, August 11, on Highway 7. On the four-lane portion, you’ll see intermittent lane closures. On the three-lane section, a pilot car will guide you through the work zone.

Then, on Monday, August 18, Highway 71 will be completely shut down just north of its intersection with Highway 7. That closure is expected to last through Saturday, August 23, weather permitting. A detour will be in place using Highway 7, 120th Avenue, and 600th Street.
