SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – Iowa law enforcement agencies across the state are increasing traffic enforcement efforts as part of the Stars, Stripes, and Sober Rides campaign.

The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau-sponsored high-visibility enforcement project runs from July 2 through July 6.

Iowa State Trooper Kevin Krull says the Iowa State Patrol will partner with local law enforcement agencies to focus on traffic safety during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Along with increased enforcement, Krull is encouraging Iowans to make transportation plans before consuming alcohol.

Krull says law enforcement hopes to see fewer crashes and fatalities during this year’s holiday weekend.

The Stars, Stripes, and Sober Rides campaign continues through Sunday, July 6.
