SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The Iowa State Patrol is advising motorists to stay focused and drive safely as Labor Day weekend approaches.

Iowa State Trooper Kevin Krull stopped by the KICD studios to remind drivers to be aware of increased traffic associated with holiday travel.

 

 

State troopers will also be paying close attention to speeding during the Labor Day holiday period. Krull says excessive speeds remain a significant problem, including drivers traveling well above 100 miles per hour.

 

 

Distracted driving also remains a major concern. Krull said Iowa’s recent hands-free law continues to generate an alarming number of violations statewide.

 

 

The Iowa State Patrol will also be participating in safety education efforts at the upcoming Clay County Fair, including displays focused on speeding and a rollover simulator scheduled to appear at the fair for the first time.
