IOWA (Northwestiowanow) – State Representative Megan Jones has officially announced she is running for re-election in Iowa House District-6.

The announcement was made Wednesday February 25. Jones says Iowa has made significant progress in recent years, but she believes there is still more to do.

Jones serves as Chair of the House Transportation Committee, and has been involved in legislation aimed at infrastructure improvements, government efficiency, and taxpayer savings. She highlighted her work on the 2025 disaster recovery bill following the flooding in June 2024, calling it one of her biggest achievements.

Looking ahead, Jones says she wants to focus on property tax reform.

She also pointed to efforts to simplify government processes, including legislation that would allow businesses to use fleet license plates instead of dealing with annual sticker renewals. Jones says the move would save money, time, and stress for Iowans.

Jones says serving in the legislature remains a personal honor.

Jones was first elected in 2012, and says she plans to continue working on safer communities, strong schools, and keeping government “out of the way” so Iowa families and businesses can grow.

Outside the legislature, Jones is a prosecutor. She lives with her husband, Will, and their five children on a family farm in rural Sioux Rapids.
