SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A robbery at a Spencer convenience store has resulted in a felony charge against a Laurens man.

On Friday, May 1, officers with the Spencer Police Department arrested 35-year-old Daniel Kenneth Douglas, charging him with second-degree robbery, a Class C felony.  Court records show the charge stems from an incident on January 2 at the South Brew Convenience Store.

Police allege Douglas entered the store wearing a face covering, went behind the counter, and took cash. When confronted by a store clerk, police say Douglas assaulted the clerk before fleeing the scene.  Douglas was booked into the Clay County Jail, where he remains held on a $10,000 bond.

The Spencer Police Department was assisted by the Pocahontas Police Department in the investigation.
