Lyon County Truck/Train Victim Name Released

Lester, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Iowa State Patrol has released the name of the victim of a fatal truck/train accident in Lyon County.
39-year-old Kyle Madetzke of Baltic, South Dakota was at the wheel of a 2026 Ford pickup that failed to stop on 110th Street Northwest of Lester as he approached the moving BNSF train.

The accident report says the pickup flipped upside down and caught on fire. Madetzke was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the train’s crew was injured.

The Lyon County sheriff’s department, Lester Fire Department, and Lyon County Roads department assisted at the scene.

The incident occurred at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.
