The Clay County Health Update featured Darcie Follon with Spencer Public Health to talk about Skin Cancer Awareness. She says it’s an especially important topic for Clay County.
Follon recommends prevention and education. That starts with knowing your risk factors, and if you are at higher risk, which includes fair skin that burns easily, using tanning beds, and a family history of skin cancer, then it’s time to take it seriously.
Follon advises to check skin regularly, and if something doesn’t look right, have it checked. Skin cancer is common, but it also treatable when caught early. Listen to the entire conversation HERE.
