Sioux City, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — After his sixth illegal entry into the U.S., Jesus Banuelos-Lepe is headed back to federal prison – this time for four years – after he was found passed out behind the wheel last July in Sioux County.

Banuelos-Lepe, 49, is a Mexican citizen, and was sentenced yesterday in Sioux City. When he was arrested last July, he was found mid-road in Maurice intoxicated. He tried using an alias, but his fingerprints were on file because: 5 prior deportations and two federal felony convictions, including a 2007 alien smuggling case where he held a person against their will for ransom.

There is no parole in the federal system, so Banuelos-Lepe will serve 24 months for the new illegal re-entry and another 24 months for violating his 2023 supervised release. After the full four-year sentence, he will be deported, again.
