Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Cristobal Del Angel Sr., 38, of Newell, was sentenced on March 10, 2026, to a maximum of 92 years in prison. The sentencing by Judge Andrew Smith follows a December jury trial where Del Angel was convicted on all 31 counts filed by the State.

The investigation began on August 31, 2025, when authorities responded to a report of an individual threatening someone with a knife on Walnut Street in Newell. Subsequent investigation by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a series of additional crimes, including continuous sexual abuse of a child, incest, child endangerment, and going armed with intent, among other charges.

Angel must serve a mandatory minimum of 55 years.
