SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A Spencer nurse has been accused of alleged conduct that may have put a patient at risk.

Newly released documents from the Iowa Board of Nursing say 60-year-old Larae Marie Pemberton is accused of committing an act that could affect the physical or psychological well-being of a patient and allegedly failing to assess or report the patient’s condition.

The board has not said what incident led to the allegations. Records show an investigation was opened in 2024, and the charges were officially approved in July 2025.

A disciplinary hearing before the Iowa Board of Nursing is set for Friday, April 24 later this year.

Pemberton has been a licensed practical nurse in Iowa since 2003.
