O’Brien County Board of Supervisors Approve Construction of New Gas Pipeline

Primghar, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The O’Brien County Board of Supervisors met in Tuesday morning March 9 in Primghar to tackle a full agenda, including greenlighting infrastructure updates and major equipment investments.

The Board kicked off the meeting by moving forward with a key utility project. Supervisors approved a construction application for Black Hills Energy. , who will now install a new natural gas pipeline running through Sections 15 and 16 of Liberty Township. The Board requires that the line must be bored at a minimum depth of four feet.

Financially, O’Brien County Supervisors approved a lengthy list of claims and payroll.

 However, the largest single line item on the ledger was a payment of $326,643.57 to Ziegler Inc. Ziegler is a major regional dealer for Caterpillar (CAT) heavy machinery—like motor graders or loaders—essential for the county’s Secondary Road maintenance.

Notable service and supply expenditures included over $68,000 to Alpha Wireless for phone-related services and $28,193 to Dixon Construction, the session also saw the approval of approximately $89,457 in IPERS payments and nearly $547,070 in total payroll.

The Board adjourned until the next scheduled meeting Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
