Okoboji, IA (Northwestiownow.com) — The current owner of O’Farrell Sisters Restaurant in Okoboji – which has operated in a residential area since 1947 – has requested the city allow them to build a parking lot.

Councilman Jim Delpardang says past owners have been turned down, and the city even went to court when Butch Parks owned several businesses in the vicinity.

The current owner is Michael Jensen.

City manager Michael Meyer – who also serves as Zoning director – believe the ordinance WOULD have to be revised to accommodate the request. Councilwoman Julie Andres does not believe there would be support for that.

Councilman Jim Hentges motioned to refer the matter to the Planning and Zoning commission for review, but the matter died for lack of a second.
