Paullina Man Arrested for Felony Charges Involving Minor

Paullina, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) —  A 26-year-old Paullina man is in the O’Brien County Court today (Monday Jan 12)  for a pretrial conference regarding multiple felony charges involving a minor.  Authorities arrested Alexandr Vlietstra on Tuesday, January 6 at his home on North Rutledge Street in Paullina.
According to court documents, Vlietstra admitted to taking inappropriate photographs of a female minor with his cellphone.  A search of the device revealed images dating back to Spring 2025.  He now faces charges including second-degree sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor, as we as a violation of release conditions stemming from a domestic assault charge in August last year.
Vlietstra is in O’Brien County Jail in Primghar on a $50,000 bond.  A preliminary hearing is set for January 27th, with his trial scheduled to begin February 3 in Primghar.
