Milford, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — Students at Okoboji High School are gearing for their prom this weekend.

The Power of Choice program returned to the school this week to encourage students to make positive choices and NOT drink & drive. On Wednesday morning – the day began with a mock “alcohol related car accident” in front of the school. Program Co-Director Laura Manwarren tells us several local agencies participated:

The day also included a mock “ER scene” where some students were treated for their injuries and two students died from their injuries. Manwarren said students witnessed one of their classmates in a courtroom:

Co-Director Amy Sievers hopes this program will help teach students to make good choices in their lives:

The Power of Choice team would like to thank the Okoboji School District and the community of Milford for making this program possible.
