NORTHWEST IOWA, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Residents across northwest Iowa are being asked to share their thoughts on the future of the Little Sioux River.
The Iowa DNR and conservation boards from Dickinson, Clay, O’Brien, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Ida and Woodbury counties are working together to develop the Little Sioux River Water Trail Plan.
The effort is intended to improve recreation, public access, safety and habitat along more than 200 miles of the river corridor.
Project Planner Teva Dawson says organizers want to hear input from the people who know the river best.
Dawson says the project goes beyond evaluating access points and river amenities.
The final document will serve as a long-term guide for communities and partner organizations.
The survey is expected to remain available for at least a month and can be accessed through the Inkpaduta Canoe Trail website and its social media channels.
