Quick Times at Cherokee Cross Country Meet

Cherokee, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Cherokee hosted their home Cross Country Meet Tuesday night.

In the Girls race, MOC-Floyd Valley’s Natalie Anderson won with a blistering time of 18:22.99. Sioux Center would take 2nd through 5th place with Audrina Jones running 19:36.56, Kolby Oldenkamp 19:47.37, Molly Isakson 19:49.45, and Kylee Wielenga at 20:03.86.

Spencer’s Minnie Matthiesen took 6th at 20:10.59. Also in the top 10 was Cherokee’s Grace Woodall in 8th at 20:29.49. Spencer placed Alexandria Palmer 10th at 21:14.06.

Spirit Lake was led by Ella Beck at 21:22.21 in 13th. Just after her in 14th was Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Amadelaid Benitez at 21:52.91, followed immediately by her teammate Mya Pohlen at 21:53.58.

Sioux Center took the team title with a fantastic 21 points. MOC-Floyd Valley was 2nd at 58 and Sibley-Ocheyedan took 3rd with 98. Spencer was 4th, Cherokee 5th, Spirit Lake 7th, and Storm Lake took 10th.

For the Boys race, Isaac Hummel of MOC-Floyd Valley took 1st, running 16:19.14. In 2nd was Jace Hungerford of Spirit Lake, clocking 16:21.57. Sioux Center took 3rd, 4th, and 5th with Caden Kooiker running 16:33.91, Matthew Dahm 16:38.18, and Drew Cundy 16:41.38.

Spencer’s Rylei Koppie ran 16:49.62 to take 8th with Nolan McCusker also in the top 10 for the Tigers with a 10th place time of 16:59.65.

Leading Sheldon was Malakai Vermeer, running 16:59.68.

Up front for Sibley-Ocheyedan was Eric Kleinwolterink at 19:10.99 to finish 41st.Storm Lake’s Eden Zavala Laguna was 44th at 19:24.2

In the team score, Sioux Center scored 31 points to finish 1st, MOC-Floyd Valley was 2nd with 60, and Spirit Lake took 3rd with 93.

Spencer was 4th, Cherokee 7th, and Storm Lake 8th.
