Rebels score 28 Unanswered to Roll Past Hawks

Sioux Rapids, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Sioux Central and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn collided on Friday night in Sioux Rapids for a Class A District 1 matchup.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was able to get off to a good start, scoring a Hunter Daggett Touchdown after their first drive, then picking up a field goal from Daniel Kellert from 36 yards away to go up 10-0.

Sioux Central came back in a big way later in the 2nd quarter, getting a couple of Touchdown runs from 1 and 7 yards away from Michael Buettner to go up 14-10 going into the half.

The Rebels got another Touchdown run from Buettner in the 3rd quarter to go up 21-10.

The 4th Quarter was all Sioux Centra, outscoring the Hawks 17-8 down the stretch to win 38-18.

Michael Buettner had 26 carries on the night for 140 yards and 3 Touchdowns. Owen Mills had 2 rushing Touchdowns of his own on 13 carries for 88 yards. The Rebels totaled 282 yards of Total Offense in the win, only outgaining the Hawks by 6 yards, but did have 3 interceptions.

Sioux Central improves to 3-3 on the year and 2-3 in Class A District 1 play. Up next for them is a non-district road trip where they will play Belmond-Klemme.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn is now 1-5 this season and 1-3 in the district. Up next for HMS is a home contest against Sibley-Ocheyedan in Class A District 1 play for Senior night.
