Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The winner of the yearly Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club’s Car Raffle has been determined.

The car fell through the ice on Smith’s Bay February 18th – one of the earliest days on record; but it wasn’t retrieved until March 20th – one of the latest days, because after it was submerged, the lake froze again.

Raffle chair Erin Reed says the car was pulled from the bottom of the lake by the Arnolds Park / Okoboji Fire and Rescue Dive Team Friday, and the person who guessed closest to the time of day when the car went down was Bonnie Anderson who wins a thousand dollars cash.

The exact time the clock onboard the car hit water and stopped was 10:16am.
