SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Authorities are searching for a driver following a hit-and-run crash in rural Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 2:39 p.m. in the 2700 mile stretch of Highway 18.  Deputies say 64-year-old Jeanette Barslou of Algona was driving westbound in a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder when she was sideswiped by an eastbound vehicle that crossed the center line.

No injuries were reported.  The crash caused approximately $2,000 in damage to the driver’s side of Barslou’s vehicle.  The suspect vehicle is described as an older model white Chevrolet Suburban that left the scene before it could be identified. Authorities believe the Suburban may have damage to the driver’s side door and/or mirror.

Anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle involved is asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 712-262-3221.
