Washington, D.C. (Northwestiowanow.com) — US Senator Chuck Grassley’s office has announced an additional 26.6 million dollars in FEMA payments related to damage from various outbreaks of severe weather including the 2024 flood, and emergency warning systems.
The largest individual payment is 2 million 602 thousand dollars for the City of Rock Valley to cover expenses associated with sandbagging, evacuation, rescue operations, and then cleanup of the 2024 flood.
Sioux County will receive a cumulative payment of 2 million 877 thousand dollars for the aquisition of private property damaged by the flood.
Estherville has been approved for 133 thousand dollars in reimbursements for property aquisition.
The City of Spencer will be receiving a million 30 thousand for the removal of structures damaged by flooding, tornadoes, and straight-line winds; and Spencer Schools will receive nearly 614 thousand.
Lyon County’s Road Department will receive multiple individual payments – including several bridge replacement projects – that add up to 3 million 539 thousand dollars, the Sioux County Road Department will get 573 thousand, and Clay County road Department 101 grand.
The City of Cheorkee has been approved for 298 thousand dollars in this round of funding, and the Rock Valley School District 151 thousand.
