Sheriff’s Office Investigates Two-Vehicle Crash Near Spirit Lake

Spirit Lake, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two vehicle accident that was reported at 11:43am, August 11th in the 1700 block of 260th Ave (M-56).

Kimberly Vande Vegte (53), of Le Mars IA, was northbound on 260th Ave driving a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle and waiting for oncoming traffic to make a left turn into Acorn Ridge.

Kyra Brevik (18), of Arnolds Park IA, was also northbound on 260th Ave driving a 2015 Chevy Malibu. Brevik failed to stop within an assured clear distance and impacted the rear of the motorcycle.

Vande Vegte was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with non-incapacitating injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
