Sioux Central Collects Another Twin Lakes Conference Girls XC Crown

Sioux Rapids, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Twin Lakes conference Cross Country Championships were ran Thursday at the Little Sioux Golf & Country Club.

In the Girls race, Tyra Schupbach of West Bend-Mallard won with a time of 20:12.2. This was the second time Schupbach has competed on this course this season.

In 2nd was Sage Weber of Sioux Central at 21:03.3.

Emmetsburg’s Rachel Schany was 3rd with a time of 21:11.8. Schany said the wind and hilly course provided a good challenge for TLC runners.

Marley Madsen took 4th for Sioux Central, running 21:19.7 and Hayden Berkland of Alta-Aurelia was 5th at 21:35.9.

Newell-Fonda was paced by Danika Meyer at 22:07.8. Sioux Central’s Nora Christian placed 7th at 22:14.8. Newell-Fonda Freshman Quinn Sievers ran 22:16.6 to finish 8th for the Mustangs. In 10th was Addilyn Langschwager of Alta-Aurelia with a time of 22:49.

Leading Pocahontas Area was Sawyer Storms with a time of 24:39.1. Up front for GTRA was Victoria Ellis.

Sioux Central claimed the Conference Championship for the Girls with 33 points. Marley Madsen says a lot of the Rebels’ success comes from their closeness as a team.

In 2nd was Manson-Northwest Webster with 73 and Atla-Aurelia took 3rd at 78. Newell-Fonda was 4th as a team. The Mustangs have won 3 meets this year but weren’t at full strength for the Twin Lakes Conference Meet. Danica Meyer has enjoyed her school’s success this season.

Emmetsburg was 5th and Pocahontas Area took 7th.

In the Boys race, Lucos Wernimont of Sioux Central won with a time of 17:07.3. Landon Sporrer of East Sac County went 2nd at 17:26.2 with teammates Riley Aragon going 3rd at 17:38.8 and Owen Engel 4th at 17:48.6. Sioux Central’s Jack Christian was 5th at 17:56.7.

Jacob Launderville of Alta-Aurelia would take 7th at 18:10.6.  Launderville has been trying to widdle his time down before the State Qualifier on Thursday.

In 8th was Ben Cox with a time of 18:40.6. The Freshman talked about being able to compete at his home course next week for State Qualifiers.

Sioux Central’s Landon Driver took 9th at 18:44.1. Leading Newell-Fonda was Austin Barber at 19:52.

East Sac County won the team score with 50 points, just 3 in front of Sioux Central. Rebel Lucos Wernimont talked about the team race.
