Southern Rust Prevalent in Northwest Iowa Corn Crop

Algona, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — There’s a widespread disease affecting Iowa’s corn crop this year. ISU Extension Agronomist Gentry Sorenson says Southern Rust is very prevalent for the second year, even though the disease does not survive the winter.

Sorenson says farmers should be careful not to inhale the Southern Rust spores when they’re combining.
