Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Expectations for the Spencer Girls’ Tennis team are as high as ever entering the 2026 season.  The Tigers were State Quarterfinalists as a team and had a doubles team medal at State as well in 2025.  Preseason rankings have Spencer at #4 in Class 1A, and the Tigers will aim for a finish as such this fall.  Kennedy Graettinger, one half of that State Doubles team, talked about playing with a target on their back.

The other half of that State Doubles team, Brynn Merchant, is looking forward to the Tulip City Tussie, where Spencer will travel to Pella along with some of the best teams in the State.

Senior Jill Kabrick has high expectations for team success and is focusing on her mentality during play.

Many of the Spencer Tennis team play multiple sports after the sport was moved to the fall in 2025.  Dakoda Lux, who also plays Volleyball, says the coaches are very supportive.

Spencer is already off to a strong start this season, unbeaten with a win at their own Dennis Price Invitational.  The Tulip City Tussie is August 22nd in Pella, The Siouxland Conference Tournament will be in Okoboji on September 11th, and another big date on the regular season schedule is the St. James invite in St. James Minnesota on September 12th.
