Spencer Girls Swim Team Prepares for State Championships

Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The 2025 Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Swimming & Diving Meet will be held November 13th through the 14th at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

Spencer qualified 5 events, 3 relays and 2 individuals.

Halle Sears qualified in the 200y Individual Medley. Sears will be in the 2nd heat of 4 for Prelims swimming out of Lane 5. Sears is the #6 seed overall.

Sears also qualified in the 100y Butterfly. She will swim Prelims in the 2nd of 4 heats out of Lane 4. Sears is the #3 seed overall.

Sears talked about some of the things she learned as an individual qualifier her freshman year last season.

The Spencer Medley Relay team of Gretchen Haak, Anna Quanbeck, Aubrey McFarland, and Ava Vogt are seeded 32nd.

Anna Quanbeck talked about how the Tigers were able to get the Medley Relay ready for the State Qualifier last week.

Gretchen Haak came back to swimming for her Senior season. She says it was an adjustment but enjoyed being back in the pool.

The 200y Freestyle Relay team of McFarland, Maisy Schmidt, Vogt, and Sears is seeded 23rd.

Ava Vogt said she felt she really peaked in the relays at the Tigers last home meet.

Spencer’s 400y Freestyle Relay team of McFarland, Schmidt, Vogt, and Sears is seeded 26th.

Maisy Schmidt says their taper training was key getting ready for the State Qualifying Meet.

Aubrey McFarland talked about what she is looking forward to at the State Championships.

Addison Stuckey talked about being one of two alternates for the Tigers.

The State Preliminary Swimming Meet will be at Noon on Thursday with the State Swimming Meet Finals at Noon on Friday.
