Spencer Girls Swimmers Start Season with Win Over Algona

Algona, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Girls Swim team went on the road Tuesday night to open up their season against Algona.

Spencer started off the night with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a team made up of Halle Sears, Ella Kasperbauer, Lily Gross, and Ava Vogt clocking a time of 2:00.29.

Ryonna Faulkender won the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:34.29 for the Tigers.

Freshman Halle Sears rolled in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:16.98.

The Tigers took the top 3 places in the 100 Yard Butterfly with Lily Gross winning at 1:12.03.

Another Freshman in Kaela Weston won the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:31.98.

The Tigers picked up a 1st place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a team of Kasperbauer, Vogt, Gross, and Sears clocking 1:51.58.

Sears got another win in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:03.54.

In the 800 Freestyle Relay, Spencer’s team of Hallie Brown, Ryonna Faulkender, Emily Schmidt, and Kaela Weston won with a time of 4:43.14.

Spencer ran away with the win in the Team score, beating Algona 115-64.

Spencer coach Amy Lawrence said, “We are very proud of our first meet, and where we are starting for our times this season.”

Next up for the Tigers is a pentathlon meet at Sioux City on September 5th, where Spencer will swim in all of the sprint events. Along with the hosts Sioux City, Lewis Central will also be attending.
