Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — Spencer Hospital has been honored with a 5-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

This accolade is part of CMS’s annual assessment of U.S. hospitals, evaluating performance across 46 quality measures grouped into 5 categories: which are safety of care, mortality, patient experience, re-admission rates, and timely and effective care.

In the CMS report, Spencer Hospital stands out as one of only 381 hospitals nationwide to earn this top rating. Spencer Hospital is also the sole facility in northwest Iowa and one of seven hospitals in Iowa to achieve the honor.

In addition to the 5-Star rating, Spencer Hospital also earned national recognition as one of the country’s Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals among about 800 mid-sized facilities.
