Dickinson County, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — A Spencer woman is facing a felony theft charge after authorities allege she deposited and withdrew funds from a fraudulent check worth nearly half a million dollars.

According to court records, 55-year-old Rosanne Marie Norlin of Spencer allegedly created a corporation and used it to deposit a $485,668 check into a corporate account at United Community Bank in Milford. Investigators say the check was tied to a legitimate California business.

Authorities allege Norlin subsequently depleted the account through a series of cashier’s checks and cash withdrawals beginning March 27.

A criminal complaint was filed, and Norlin was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail on Monday, August 31.

Norlin has been charged with first-degree theft, a Class C felony.

Court records show Norlin is being held on a $10,000 bond. The charge remains pending in Dickinson County District Court.
