Spencer Woman Pleads Guilty to Theft at Hartley Convenience Store

HARTLEY, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A Spencer woman has pleaded guilty to fifth-degree theft following an incident at a convenience store in Hartley.

According to a report from the Hartley Police Department, the incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, August 21. Thirty-nine-year-old Megan Raeann Nichole Moser reportedly entered the Hartley Junction convenience store and took a Strawberry ’Rita BuzzBallz alcoholic drink from the shelf. She then consumed the drink in the store’s bathroom around 11:15 a.m.

Police later recovered the empty can as evidence and contacted Moser by phone on August 26. According to the incident report, she admitted to stealing the alcohol but could not explain why she did it.

A warrant for her arrest was issued in O’Brien County on August 27, and Moser was taken into custody around 4 p.m. Friday, August 29.

On August 30, Moser pleaded guilty in O’Brien County District Court in Primghar. She was ordered to pay a $105 fine, a $15.75 surcharge, and $161.90 in court-related costs.
