Waterloo, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer’s Colby Sherrod and Charlie Moeller competed at the IHSAA 2026 State Tennis Doubles Tournament in Waterloo Wednesday.

The Tiger duo opened up unseeded and took on Wahlert Catholic of Dubuque’s #2 seed team of Hill and Anderson.

Hill and Anderson would take the first set 6-0.  They would follow that up with another 6-0 set win, advancing the Golden Eagles into the Quarterfinals and moving Sherrod and Moeller to the Consolation bracket.

Hill/Anderson of Wahlert Catholic (Dq) advanced all the way to the Championship match on Thursday.

Next up for the Tigers in the Consolation Quarterfinal round was another unseeded group from Shenandoah in Sun and Burk.

The Mustangs took the first set 6-3.  Sherrod and Moeller responded with a 6-3 win of their own in the second set, forcing the 3rd set tiebreaker in a first one to 10 game wins format.

In that tiebreaker, the Shenandoah pair came away with a 10-6 win, giving them the match victory of 2 sets to 1, and advancing Sun/Brunk to the Consolation Semifinal.  They would fall in that next round to the Central DeWitt duo of Froeschle and Schneider.
