Spirit Lake Man Charged by Clay County Authorities for Disobeying Orders in Accident Zone

Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Clay County Sheriff’s department charged a 73 year old Spirit Lake man for disobeying their orders and entering the scene of a traffic accident Saturday afternoon.

Officers on the scene near the 19th Avenue and 350th Street intersection West of Spencer say the instructed Duane Ver Meer to stay out of the area, but he proceeded anyway prompting a short pursuit.

He was charged with Failure to Obey a Peace Officer and taken to the Clay County jail.

The incident ocurred around 3:40pm.
