Marcus, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Iowa boasts more than 540 public libraries statewide, in addition to hundreds more libraries in schools, colleges and universities, all of which are marking this National Library Week.

Northwest Iowa Now News visited with Cherokee County’s Marcus Public Library and Marjo Daum says they continue to strive to be an essential service and resource to everyone in the community.

Small town libraries are often the only free option for socializing, after-school and summer children’s programs, internet services, meeting room space and more. Groups like Friends of the Marcus Public Library host fundraisers to help keep the facilities modern.

The theme for National Public Library Week is “Find Your Joy” and your local library invites you to visit them this week to see what you can find. Marcus Public Library Website
