Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Storm Lake City council has approved first reading of a zoning change for a gymnastic studio. Samantha Rasmussen is co-owner of the building at 1309 West Milwaukee Avenue. When she and Mike Copeland bought the business, it was owned by Buena Vista Regional Healthcare. In trying to sell the property they recently discovered it’s zoned for medical use only. They are requesting the change to Community Commercial.

Building Director Scott Olesen says the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously supports the change.

The Storm Lake city council approved the zone change September 15th but must approve it twice more at a public meeting.
