Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Storm Lake Police say an armed suspect is behind bars after an incident last night. (Monday)

It started on Elmwood Drive after officers got a call about a man threatening to shoot someone. Police say the man, identified as 26-year-old Jose Ramon Ramirez of Storm Lake, showed up on a bicycle and then on foot.

The situation then moved over to Grand Avenue, where police told residents to stay inside and shelter in place.

With help from the Storm Lake Police K-9 Unit, negotiators, and tactical teams from both the Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, Ramirez was safely taken into custody.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail just after 10 p.m. last night. He faces a number of charges, including threat of terrorism, first-degree burglary, and assault. Ramirez is being held on a bond of 48-thousand-300 dollars.
