STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The City of Storm Lake has declared a Snow Emergency beginning Sunday night and continuing through midweek.

The Snow Emergency will take effect Sunday, March 15, at 10:00 p.m. and remain in place until Wednesday, March 18, at 6:00 a.m. City officials made the call following a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service.

During the Snow Emergency, parking will not be allowed on residential streets between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Parking is also prohibited on streets in the Central Business District between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., as well as in downtown public parking lots designated as Lot B and Lot D.

Overnight parking is allowed in downtown public parking lots Lot A and Lot C during the Snow Emergency. Vehicles found to be in violation of the City’s snow policy may be ticketed and/or towed.

The Snow Emergency allows City Public Services crews time to clear streets during overnight hours. If conditions improve and the emergency is no longer necessary, it may be lifted once the warning period expires.
